Why Do I Get Anxiety Out Of Nowhere

The Relationship Between Sleep And Depression

Getting Anxiety Symptoms Out of Nowhere? (I DID TOO!)

One of the telltale signs of depression is poor sleep. It might be due to chronic insomnia or because life demands and choices have you putting sleep on the backburner, which translates into sleep deprivation. The mere fact that you are sleep deprived places you at greater risk of having depression either presently or in the future.

Research has found that three-quarters of those who suffer from depression also have some form of sleep disturbance, meaning the links are undeniable. Additionally, the research has shown that those who are not depressed and suffer from insomnia have an increased risk of depression later in life. Suffice it to say that poor sleep means a decreased quality of life and increased likelihood of experiencing depression.

I have heard it said too many times, I will sleep when I am dead, but the truth of it is that if you dont have good sleep hygiene, then that eventuality of death might come that much sooner. Insufficient sleep over an extended period will cost you dearly. It might come in the form of depression or increased risk for accidents and chronic illness, such as high blood pressure and heart disease.

Naturally, the busy, hectic pace of life forces you to cut out the things you think of as being dispensable or wont cost you much at the moment. What if you saw sleep as non-negotiable as you see many other commitments in life? This is not meant to be harsh criticism, but it is meant to get you thinking about your life choices.

Let Go Of Needing To Know The Cause Of Anxiety

A reason anxiety increases when we struggle to answer the elusive question “why” is because in searching for that answer, we become caught up in anxiety. We expend a whole lot of time and negative energy fighting.

Even more important, when we are consumed in trying to find an anxiety cause we are anxious, we become hyper-focused on anxiety. The concepts that are receiving the brunt of our attention are anxiety, worry, fear, panic, and the like.

When we hold on to the need to know why we are holding onto anxiety itself because that is what we are thinking about. Chances are, those thoughts are not peaceful. To reduce the grip of this vague anxiety, it’s important to let go of the need to know the anxiety cause. We don’t have to enjoy anxiety, but we can be at peace with the fact that there’s no apparent cause for it.

Where Do I Go From Here

The best first step is always to talk to your doctor. They can help you decide which, if any, of the above treatments would be best for you.

Ways To Manage A Sense Of Impending Doom

Treatment for feelings of impending doom will depend on the root cause.

If the sense of impending doom stems from an anxiety condition, stress management techniques, medication, psychotherapy, or a combination thereof may help. A therapist can help you learn how to cope with these feelings when they come on.

For people experiencing a sense of impending doom due to anaphylaxis, heart attack, focal seizures, or poisoning, treatment of the underlying condition should help lessen the feeling.

Speak to your health care provider if youre experiencing feelings of impending doom. This feeling isnt something to ignore and can indicate other health conditions that need to be addressed.

Tips On Eating A Healthy Well

  • Make sure that the bulk of your food choices are raw, natural, or whole foodsfoods that your grandmother would recognize and even prepare.
  • Plan your meals. If you dont plan ahead, chances are you will resort to the convenient option, which often means less healthy, and if you do find a healthy option, it can be quite expensive. In a pinch, if you are grabbing a meal on the fly, try to go to a supermarket where you can grab some fruits or veggies to hold you over or opt for a whole-grain salad.

When Anxiety Strikes Without A Cause

Sometimes, we experience anxiety because of an anxiety trigger. People can be diagnosed with different types of anxiety disorders, each with specific symptoms and causes. Additionally, people can experience situational anxiety where something in particular causes anxiety symptoms to flare. A student might experience test anxiety severe enough to negatively impact performance or a parent’s anxiety might become heightened and nearly debilitating when he/she thinks about the various harm that could come to the child. The anxiety that is triggered by something can be painful, limiting, and downright awful, especially when one can’t avoid anxiety triggers. Equally painful, limiting, and downright awful is when anxiety strikes without a cause whatsoever.

Anxiety Can Cause Mild To Severe Depression

Anxiety, as a distinct disorder, can affect your social life, your work life, and your ability to find joy in activities. It also puts a great deal of stress on your mind and body.

Anxiety may reduce your involvement in activities that would usually give you pleasure and fulfillment. If this continues over time, it can lead to depression. In fact, depression is often a comorbid diagnosis with anxiety. In many cases, anxiety comes first and contributes to the development of depression.

Anxiety may not necessarily cause long-lasting depression, but the stress on your brain and the feelings of constant fear and fatigue can often lead to a temporary low mood and, thus, crying.

How to Beat Test Anxiety and Take on Exams Without Stress

Whats tempting then is to start thinking about where these feelings came from. We feel the need to analyze what happened and figure out why we feel anxious now. But instead of a brief analysis, what usually happens next is this: We start to worry if these feelings will come back. We start to think through possible triggers over and over again. And we start to closely pay attention to any body signs that could mean anxiety coming up again.

Unfortunately, all these things only make anxiety worse. Analyzing is more often than not a bad idea. Anxiety is a complex experience and we probably wont be able to find their source. We rather make ourselves even more miserable if we continue to ruminate about where those feelings came from. And even if were lucky enough to find out where the anxiety came from, our feelings dont go away just because we know their source.

What You Need To Understand First

The first thing we need to know is this: Anxiety is a built-in response and its here to keep us safe. For a very good reason, evolution has developed the human brain so that it can trigger stress and anxiety at any moment we feel threatened it keeps us alive.

Unfortunately, this innate reaction can go wrong. And thats exactly what happens when we become anxious out of the blue. It can be triggered by a thought that pops into our head, a suppressed memory or by a combination of small stressors that come together to trigger anxiety. We might not notice them at all but our subconscious doesnt care. It can still pick them up and set off our innate danger alert.

Why does anxiety hit me out of nowhere whenever I take a ...

Its a classic chicken or egg question, does depression make you tired, or does being tired cause depression? The simple answer to this question is yes and yes. Taking it a step further, I employ the both/and strategy, which is to say that they are both true and not mutually exclusive of each other. But thats the simple part. The real question is how and why.

We all know that one of the most common symptoms of depression is fatigue. There are a few key reasons for that which include increased stress, sleep disturbances, and poor diet, among others. And when you are tired, you lack the energy to do the very things you need to do to kick the depression out of your life.

One of the ways I describe depression is a low mood that refers not only to your emotional state but also your overall energy levels, which is depleted and lacking the get up and go attitude needed to deal with depression. And so begins the vicious cycle between decreasing energy and increasing depression. How you interrupt this cycle will be the focus of this article. I will explain how depression makes you tired, and give you a few tips to help correct this problem.
