Bible Verses About Anxiety Soothes An Anxious And Worried Heart

At one point or another, we all have to deal with worry and fear. But we dont have to be paralyzed or be chained by it. Thankfully, there are Bible verses about anxiety that can soothe our fearful and worried hearts.

The promises of God and His assurance through His Word work their way in us as a healing balm. Through the scripture, He reveals His desire for us to live in His peace and find rest in His presence.

What Does God Say About Anxiety

    God says don

Ultimately, Gods desire is that we would so deeply trust him with our lives that:

  • We believe that HE knows what is best.
  • We believe that he will make it happen in His timing.
  • For some of us, the first one is the hardest, and for good reason. God allows all kinds of things to happen that we dont like or understand. It becomes hard to imagine that God would not intercede when we are convinced he should. However, God makes his case for being the better option. Here is his simple resume:

    • He created and designed everything that exists.
    • He knows the past, present, and future.
    • He knows the innermost thoughts of every man, woman, and child who has ever existed.
    • He is motivated by love, and only love. In fact, he is love.

Lets compare that to our resume:

    • After years of research and study of human behavior, we arent really any better than we have ever been.
    • We are often confident we know what is best, only to have remorse later.
    • We make wild assumptions about what other people are motivated by and are terrible at getting along.
    • We are selfish and often have tunnel vision.

On paper, there really is no comparison. And yet we find ourselves believing that our understanding is sufficient and our ways are better. To this, God reveals his nature in scripture so that we can learn to trust in him.

    Isaiah 55|8-9

For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, declares the Lord.

What Scripture Is Cast All Your Anxiety On Him

The Scripture that is often cited in connection with the idea of casting all our anxiety on God is from 1 Peter 5:7, which says, Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you. This verse is a powerful reminder that we can release our worries and concerns to God, knowing that he loves us and will help us through whatever difficulties we face.

When we are feeling anxious or stressed, it can be difficult to remember that God is in control and that he loves us. However, if we take the time to quiet our minds and focus on Gods presence, we will be reminded that he is always with us and will never leave us. We can trust God to help us through whatever challenges we may face, and we can rest assured that he will never abandon us.

Fear. One of the most popular weapons can be used against us. Anxiety, worry, fearcan overwhelm us with the darkness of a dark shadow that can control our every move and choice.

There is a lot of chaos in the world today: conflicts, wars, persecutors, and violence, as well as crime natural disasters, terrorists, unemployment, economic instability divisions, disease, and death. We worry about the future of our children, we worry about our families We are worried about our financial security, and we worry about our security. The list continues onlong. There is plenty that we can be worried about.

However, the reality is that a lot of what we waste the worry about never takes place. Being weighed down by the what ifs is not a pleasure to be in.

Reinforce The Grace Of Belonging To Inspire Change Vs Spiritual Fighting To Get More Blessings

What Does The Bible Say About Stress?

For someone struggling with depression, anxiety, and other mental health challenges, this mindset of fight the good fight to get Gods blessings, breakthrough from the enemy/devil reinforces the idea that “behavior rewards belonging , as opposed to a healthier view of “belonging inspires behavior.

Happiness, success, and abundance are not signs of Gods approval, favor, and blessings, and the lack of abundance and suffering are not signs of Gods disapproval, displeasure, or His punishment. God has already blessed us and graced us for all seasons of life .

We are not trying to reach God, He has already reached fully into us He is at rest within us . Thus, we abandon every effort to be blessed and favored by God, rather discover how blessed and favored we already are right within our mental health challenges. We dont try to become a better version of who we are, we start living who we truly are.

What Would God Say To Your Anxiety

    Guest Contributor

    We all know anxiety well.

It comes with most trials and heartache. It rises when opportunities fall through. It speaks up when Im at a loss for words to comfort my wife, or when that unexpected invoice pings my inbox, or when I turn on the news to witness another heartbreaking story of injustice. Its easy to be paralyzed by my current newsfeed of reality, and forget everything I know to be true.

When anxiety strikes, we often resort to navel-gazing the act of self-indulgent or excessive contemplation of oneself, or a single issue, at the expense of a wider view. Instead of trusting Gods promise to provide with ever-arriving waves of grace, I am prone to enshrouding myself in a cloud of needless concern. And that anxiety blinds me to reality. I trade the wider view of Gods faithfulness in exchange for the empty promises offered by self-pity, worry, and doubt.

Fortunately, the Bible has something to say to anxious hearts. As a child of God, you have a jaw-dropping past, an infinitely compelling future, and a rock-solid reality to stand on without fear or worry in any circumstance.

How To Overcome Fear Anxiety And Worry

Pin on Bible Verses About Worry

Anxiety is the natural result when our hopes are centered in anything short of God and His will for us. Billy Graham

When Billy Graham wrote those words in 1965, no one knew how true they would be 50 years later.

At its best, anxiety distracts us from our relationship with God and the truth that He is Lord of heaven and earth . At its worst, anxiety is a crippling disease, taking over our minds and plunging our thoughts into darkness.

But God wants so much more for us than to walk through life full of fear, worry and anxiety.

Do not be anxious about anything, the Bible tells us in the book of Philippians, chapter 4, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God.And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.

Our instructions dont stop there. The chapter goes on to tell believers exactly what we should focus on. And its not fear, terrorism, illness, death or evil.

Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is commendable, if there is any excellence, if there is anything worthy of praise, think about these things. What you have learned and received and heard and seen in mepractice these things, and the God of peace will be with you .

    Addressing Anxiety Using Typical Methods

Usually, anxiety is addressed with medication or therapy, or ignored.

Medication- according to WebMD, common meds prescribed for anxiety are antidepressants or benzodiazepines like Xanax. And while they can be effective in the short term, you can build a tolerance for them and need more to get the same benefit. They also come with some pretty hefty side effects.

Therapy- According to Mayo Clinic, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy is the most common form of talk therapy used to address anxiety. CBT works to address symptoms by challenging negative thought patterns. Its meant to be short-term, and can be super beneficial!

Ignoring it- sooo many will just ignore their anxiety and not take any course of treatment. When you do nothing about anxiety, your symptoms are left unchecked, and will likely pop up again and again when life gets tough.

I dont recommend ignoring anxiety And while medications and therapy can be effective, these traditional methods fall short in some ways. Medication only works for as long as you take it. Therapy only works if you apply what you get from the sessions to your life.

What if I told you that addressing your anxiety from another perspective could be JUST what you need? What if I said I knew a way to address anxiety that didnt have side effects, that didnt cost what therapy costs, and that has zero downfalls!

Im betting youre curious, but maybe you have an idea where Im going by the title of this post.

What The Bible Says About Fear And Anxiety

God understands what fear and anxiety does to us, but he has so much more that he wants for us. Thats why he tells us over 100 times in the Bible do not fear or do not be anxious. Just as God knows what anxiety does to us, we have an enemy who studies our weaknesses and seeks to use them against us. Fear and anxiety are tools of the enemy. The Bible tells us that we live in a world where we will have trouble, and lets face it, theres plenty of trouble in the world right now. But the great news is that God has overcome the world. Faith is the ultimate weapon that we are given as Christians. We need to arm ourself with the promises in Gods word to combat anxiety.

In addition to all, taking up the shield of faith with which you will be able to extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one. | Ephesians 6:16
