What Bible Verses Help With Anxiety

He Says Be Still And Know That I Am God I Will Be Exalted Among The Nationsi Will Be Exalted In The Earth Psalms 4: 10

Bible verses to help with anxiety and worry

Shaking hands, heart racing, palms sweating, cloudy thoughts, yes, sometimes it is so hard to experience stillness. Trust in the divine sedative found in Gods word and experience the peace and tranquility that He alone can give. Pray to God in faith and ask Him to help you to fix your eyes totally on Him. God wants to calm your trembling heart and set you free. Do not be anxious, you need only to Be Still.

The Truth Will Set You Free

Feelings of anxiety, fear, and worry can be extremely distressing, even disabling at times. Just remember, they are feelings that come and go. They are often based on a combination of traumatic or distressing events, have been modeled by others important to you growing up, may be genetically inherited and treatable medically, and can be greatly improved just by trying a few of the practices listed above. Know the truth, and the truth will set you free.

How Do I Pray To God About My Anxiety

Does prayer help anxiety? In my experience , yes!

When I was first battling through the ins and outs of anxiety I really didnt have the stamina to read deeply into the Bible. I didnt have much in me to push through a Bible Study or create a solid cohesive prayer strategy. But Because I knew thats where my answer was going to come from, I made a choppy effort. It wasnt anything deep or scholarly. In fact, it was about as cut and dry as a person could get.

I opened my Bible to the concordance in the back, looked up the words peace and rest, and turned to the very first verse the concordance directed me to a verse in Numbers,

The Lord lift up His countenance upon you And give you peace. Numbers 6:26

Then I went to the next verse listed.

I will both lie down in peace and sleep For You alone, O Lord, make me dwell in safety. Psalm 4:8

Each day I would go to the back of my Bible and look up keywords that would encourage me to step out of the chains of anxiety and into Gods freedom. Words like joy, hope, help, strength, peace, rest, and health.

Those keywords would lead me to Bible verses that help with anxiety. They were helpful because they were Bible verses that consistently spoke the truth and renewed my mind with hope. They were not flimsy. It wasnt a bunch of flattery. It was the scripture that confirmed yes, life gets hard but even then I want you to know my peace. I want you to know you are loved. I want you to know you can trust me.

Make Sure Your Feelings Are Really Yours

Can you really trust your feelings are from you? Are you just repeating the thoughts and beliefs of your parents, an ex-lover, or someone else in your life because they impressed it upon you, or are these thoughts and feelings actually your own? If you come from a Christian worldview, how do you know your true thoughts and feelings are not being manipulated by your enemy Satan, the world, and your own sinful desires?

Overcome Anxiety By Meditating On What Is Good

Pin on Bible Verses for Stress

To be 100% clear I am NOT talking about any sort of eastern meditation practice or anything related to that. There is a big difference between meditation as instructed through the Bible and meditation as associated with yoga and middle eastern or new age practices. Adopting the biblical practice of meditation means we CHOOSE to focus our thoughts on the truths of the Bible and to let those truths and teaching lead us. Its intentionally recalling who God is, what He is capable of, what He promises, what He intends for us, and how He has equipped us.

This is one of the most powerful demonstrations of faith we could exhibit because it affects almost every area of our lives anxiety included. Paul addresses this very thing in one of his new testament letters. He says,Do not be anxious about anything but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your request to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. Philippians 4:8

He continues on to say,

Finally brothers and sisters whatever is true noble right pure lovely admirable if anything is excellent or praiseworthy think on these things. Philippians 4:9

What Does The Bible Say About Anxiety

Here are four Bible verses about anxiety that teach us about the effects of anxiety and how we should respond to it.

Anxiety in a mans heart weighs him down, but a good word makes him glad. Proverbs 12:25

This verse recognizes that anxiety can be a significant negative force in a persons life. It teaches us that anxiety weighs down the heartthat is, it makes a person feel down and depressed. How often do we feel the weight of anxiety in our hearts and believe that our situation is hopeless or that there is no happiness left in the world?

Most people can think back to a time when they were worried about something and felt the crushing weight of despair. Then, someone came with a word of encouragement or good news that impacted the situation, and immediately their heart felt lighter and more confident in the future.

This Scripture for anxiety teaches us that good news can dispel worry and make a person glad, and that even the smallest word of encouragement can help dissipate anxiety.

Therefore do not be anxious, saying, What shall we eat? or What shall we drink? or What shall we wear? For the Gentiles seek after all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them all. But seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be added to you. Matthew 6:25

do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. Philippians 4:6

Support System & Self Care

Have a support system and practice regular self care to ground your mindset. This could be exercising to uplift your mood , for me my thats Zumba or journaling. Find something that you love that brings you joy and try to do it regularly. It could be calming music or going for a walk in the park or even reading a book.

Identify The Source Of Your Anxiety

Bible Verses To Help Your Anxiety

See if you can identify what is driving your anxiety, fear, or worry. This means identifying the underlying beliefs or thoughts that your emotions are based on. Dont just react to the emotions , see what lies beneath them. These may have been events that occurred in childhood you actually forgot about or things you try not to remember. If you dont pull the weed out by the roots, it will just grow back. Attempting to simply deal with the feeling is seldom successful.

Luke 12:22-26Do not worry about your life, what you will eat or about your body, what you will wear. Life is more than food, and the body more than clothes. Isaiah 41:13-14For I am the Lord, your God, who takes hold of your right hand and says to you, Do not fear I will help you. Do not be afraid, for I myself will help you, declares the Lord, your Redeemer, the Holy One of Israel.

    Bible Verses About Stress

Pause and take some time to breathe, relax your body, and focus on these bible scriptures on stress and meditate on them until you feel the peace of God and the presence of God. As Colossians says, set your mind on things above and not on the things of this world. This is so important for us to do as we are constantly bombarded with the worries of this world.

God has provided for our every need and gave us His word to speak into every situation! He is a healer, a provider, a restorer, and a friend! More than anything He longs to see us in perfect peace, comforted by His love, and provided for with everything we need for life!

Peter : 7 Give All Your Worries And Cares To God For He Cares About You

This scripture tells you exactly what to do with your worries and concerns and that is to give them to Godbut how exactly do you do that? For many people, worry and anxiety are a revolving door. One minute they worrythen they shake it offthen a few minutes later theyre worrying again. So how exactly do you hand your worry over to God and keep it from coming back? Well, doing this takes work and effort over a period of time. Handing over your worries to God requires you to acknowledge your worries and tell him about them. Many people who worry or have anxiety have thoughts that constantly swirl around in their mind and never feel a sense of relief because they havent released them. This is where doing things like journaling and writing down your thoughts helps. If you want to give God your worries, start by writing them down daily. You cant give him something if you dont first acknowledge you have something. Write in the morning when you wake up or before going to bed at night. I recommend writing because it is a visual representation of taking whats in your head and releasing it onto paper. You can pray over these things or even write down your prayers. Once you talk to God about what you are worried about, then you can ask him to guide you and show you have to best handle those things. Then your mind can begin to rest easier and not constantly carry around the mental chaos.
